Average Weighted Cost
Doorways allows for a feature called Average Weighted Cost (AWC). This allows a material to be added to the already existing material and average the cost between the new material and the old material cost.
The biggest differences you will see are when adding material costs to a work order. When adding a new material, you are just saying at what cost did you get the new shipment of materials at. From then on, when a material is added to a Work Order charge the material is then averaged out calculating what a material cost would be based on the various new materials at different costs.
Example:
5 lightbulbs bought at @ $10 apiece.
Average is now $10 apiece, until you purchase more lightbulbs at a different cost.
5 lightbulbs bought @ $5 apiece
Average is now @ $7.50 apiece.
So when adding a material cost for this, the light bulbs are going to be $7.50.
